NDMC doctors in Delhi have not received salaries for the last two months
The MCDA has already written to the PM and will be soon writing to the NDMC commissioner
In view with ongoing problems faced by the doctors working at the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) hospitals due to non-payment of salaries for months of March and April, the Municipal Corporation Doctor’s Association (MCDA) is planning to write a letter to the Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
Dr R R Gautam, President, Municipal Corporation Doctor’s Association said, “Today, we came to know that our salary for the month of February is being paid, knowing the fact that May month is about to get over, ideally they should have processed all the months’ salaries. Although, the amount of the February month salary is very small due to the income tax deduction. It is a difficult situation for us, and therefore we will express our issue to the Commissioner of NDMC.”
In the NDMC periphery comprising five major civic hospitals namely: Hindurao Hospital, Kasturba Hospital, Mrs Girdharlal Maternity Hospital and Rajan Babu TB hospital have around 10,000 senior doctors who have not been paid salary for the last two months.
He also informed that the MCDA- doçtors are facing a delay in salary payment ever since the bifurcation of the NDMC was made in 2011. For years now, the battle between the centre and corporation has been ongoing and the issue of funds not been released has been perpetual.
The MCDA who is fighting for these NDMC doctors is now seeking a permanent solution to this problem. “Last week, we had written to the PM, Modi intimating our salary issue and this morning we had again sent him the re-appeal mail and waiting to hear from his office”, he added.
In their letter, the association has appealed for the intervention to get the doctors salaries for the past three months and have highlighted that these doctors are COVID-19 warriors and are not considered with priority.
