P. D. Hinduja Hospital and MRC partners with Ibhar Technologies
Digitises its Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention & Control programs to enhance patient outcomes
P.D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre (MRC) recently announced its partnership with Ibhar Technologies. This collaboration signifies the digitalisation of the hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) programs through the implementation of Ibhar AMS solutions. This harnesses the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to bolster healthcare standards, aiming on enhancing patient safety and elevating clinical outcomes.
India faces a concerning projection of 4.7 million deaths due to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) by 2050, with high rates of bacterial infections making it a global hotspot for such issues. With a mortality rate of 417 per 100,000 from infectious diseases. In 2019, 297,000 deaths were directly linked to AMR, further highlighting the urgency of addressing this issue. Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) exacerbate the problem, affecting 10 per cent of patients in developing nations.
A statement from the hospital informs, “In response to these challenges, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC has adopted Ibhar solution that provides a comprehensive framework for enhancing infection prevention and control (IPC) practices in healthcare settings. Leveraging mobile and web-based tools, this will empower P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC’s professionals to implement WHO and CDC-endorsed strategies. Studies have demonstrated that robust IPC programs can reduce HAIs by 70 per cent, underscoring Ibhar’s pivotal role in ensuring patient safety and advancing global healthcare standards.”
It further adds, “The Ibhar tool for Infection Prevention and Control, streamlines the entire process by facilitating the identification of necessary actions, recording of current statuses, and efficient planning for addressing any outstanding issues. With real-time dashboards providing a comprehensive view of non-compliance contributors, departments, quality teams, and management can collaboratively develop and implement efficient practices swiftly.”
Moreover, individual department heads are empowered to understand requirements, record current statuses, and plan necessary actions seamlessly. This integrated approach also enables regular audits and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking, enhancing organisational compliance and accountability. This technology is being implemented at P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC with support from Pfizer and Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI).
