Sagar Hospitals, Bengaluru organised a walk-a-thon event in Bengaluru to bring awareness around heart health on occasion of World Heart Day.
Flagging off the walk was done by guest of honour, DCP VVIP Illkkya Karunakaran along with the prominent cardiologist Dr K S Kishore. The walk began at 6:30 am with 800 plus strong walkers, from all age groups, carrying the message of ‘heart survivors’ followed by a session of health discussion while enjoying a light breakfast.
Emphasizing the need of awareness walk-a-thon, Dr Kishore KS, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Sagar Hospitals said, “There is a growing gap among the young and old alike when it comes to our heart health. It is our responsibility, as leading healthcare providers, to take initiatives, like today’s walk-a-thon event, and spread the word of physical and mental health importance. A thirty (30) minute walk a day for five days a week is all you need to keep heart issues at bay.”
Relaying the message of health, Ishiqa Multani, President, Sagar Group of Hospitals, said, “it’s an immense feeling of satisfaction when you see a turn out of 800 strong people from your immediate community to come hand-in-hand with you to spread the message of heart health. I congratulate the entire organizing team of Sagar Hospitals to have taken this responsible initiative.”
