Society of Emergency Medical Services, Maharastra signs MoU with IIHMR, Bengaluru
To provide certificate programmes in healthcare leadership, health management and hospital management
Institute of Health Management Research, Bengaluru has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Society of Emergency Medical Services, Maharastra to provide a certificate programme in integrated training and skill up gradation of medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals in hospital and healthcare organisation.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Biranchi N Jena, Director, IHMR Bengaluru said, “This is truly a great occasion for the institute to be associated with the EMS society, Maharashtra to compliment the training needs at Maharashtra. With an exponential growth of 40 per cent expected in the healthcare and hospital sector over the next five years, it is highly crucial to improve the capabilities of both by establishing a good system of training and skill up gradation of the existing professionals. This is where IHMR Bangalore will play a crucial role. Doctors, administrators, pharmacists, nurses and other premedical employees can take up this programme to improve their leadership and management skills. With hospital operation is getting complicated with many new processes like quality accreditation, patient safety measures, patient satisfaction, IT in healthcare practices, regular and relevant training of the healthcare professionals is becoming very critical.”
Confirming the need of training for working professionals in the healthcare sector, Dr Rajendra Jagtap, President, EMS Society, Maharashtra said, “We are very happy to have an institution like IHMR Bangalore to support us with the training and skill up gradation that will help us to maintain the high standards of healthcare services. Currently there is a paucity of qualified managers in the private healthcare sector of Maharashtra and with severe management and administrative challenges, a structured orientation among the existing healthcare professionals will enable us to overcome the dearth and ensure a smooth functioning.”
Based on the MoU, IIHMR, Bangalore and EMS Society Maharashtra, with support of leading hospitals would provide a three-days programme on healthcare leadership, three-days programme in hospital management as well as an integrated programme of six days combining both.
