Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute to organise ENDOSPINECON 2014
It will provide a platform wherein various experts from the field will come together and discuss about the different aspects of endospine surgery
The department of Neurosurgery of Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute is organising ENDOSPINECON 2014 on November 7-8, 2014. It is a two-day conference aimed at training young spine surgeons to enhance their knowledge and skill on endoscopic spine surgery.
The conference would reportedly include live surgery and cadaveric workshops which will offer step by step demonstrations of basic to advanced ensdoscopic spine surgeries. It is expected to witness the coming together of surgeons from all across India as well as abroad. On the first day there will be didactic lectures followed by live surgery and discussion in detail about the procedure, pitfalls and complications and how to avoid them. Next day the participants will do the endoscopic surgery themselves on cadavers at SGT University, Gurgaon under guidance of experienced faculty.
Dr (Prof) IC Premsagar Head, Department of Neurosurgery said, “The common perception among people about spine surgery is that it is a major surgery and undergoing this might leave them paralyzed and unable to walk again. Previously spine surgeries were major operations wherein metallic implants were required which not only took longer time but was also more expensive. But with the advent of good quality spine endoscope, spine surgeries can be done with greater ease and in less time as it does not require implant and big incisions and tissue cutting. The endoscopic spine surgery requires proper training of young spine surgeons by experienced faculty in this field. This is our small endeavour to train enthusiastic spine surgeons by eminent members of this field.”
