Vayah Vikas Nodal Center-Mangaluru for senior citizens was inaugurated on Wednesday, as part of a collaboration between Vayah Vikas, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering seniors, and AJ Hospital and Research Centre, one of the foremost tertiary hospitals in India.
The nodal center, located at AJ Hospital premises, will provide a range of services and opportunities for senior citizens, such as health check-ups, legal and financial advice, engagement activities, and volunteering options. The center will also serve as a platform for seniors to connect with each other and share their experiences and aspirations.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including G K Bhat, GM (Retd.), Karnataka Bank, Dr Alexander Thomas, Founding Member of Vayah Vikas, Dr Prashanth Marla, Medical Director, AJHRC, Dr Amitha P. Marla, Director Medical Administration, AJHRC, Shankar Ranganathan, Head of Operations-Karnataka Chapter, Vayah Vikas, and Srinivas Madhava Rao, Advisor-Karnataka Chapter, Vayah Vikas.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Thomas said that Vayah Vikas was driven by the philosophy of “by the seniors, for the seniors, of the seniors”. He said that the organisation aimed to reach one million older adults in the next two years and enable them to live their lives to their full potential. He also thanked AJ Hospital for their support and partnership in this noble initiative.
The nodal center will be open from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
