Maharashtra to launch Rs 1500 cr CM Health at Doorstep Scheme

The scheme focuses on reducing out-of-pocket expenditure and will take blood samples of all people above 60 years. Over 4,500 drug-consumable services will be provided at the doorstep of the patients

At the inaugural session of the 6th Edition of the CII Hospital Tech summit, Dr Sudhakar Shinde, IRS, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that the ‘Chief Minister Health at Doorstep Scheme’ will soon be launched. The scheme focuses on reducing out-of-pocket expenditure and will take blood samples of all people above 60 years. Over 4,500 drug-consumable services will be provided at the doorstep of the patients. BMC spends 15 per cent of its budget on healthcare, it is expected to spend Rs 1,500 cr to provide these doorstep benefits.

 

He added that industry collaboration will be key to achieving economies of scale and making infrastructure IT-enabled at the 6th Edition of the CII Hospital Tech summit on the theme Aligning Healthcare for 2030.

 

N Nawin Sona, Principal Secretary, Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra said that the government is working on a roadmap to make healthcare accessible, accountable and affordable. He emphasised that technology adoption is key to reducing the cost and that public and private sector needs to align on health data and making the health registry. He added that Digital Health Mission for Maharashtra is underway, and that Government is keen to collaborate with private sector to promote indigenous innovations.

The theme of the summit ‘Aligning Healthcare for 2030’ was decided to gear up for exponential growth expected in the healthcare industry, said Joy Chakraborty, Chairman, CII Hospital Tech 2023 and COO, P D Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Centre.

 

Dr Parag Rindani, Chairman, CII WR Sub-Committee on Healthcare & Chief Executive Officer, Wockhardt Hospitals emphasised the importance of ethical considerations and patient privacy. Collaboration between academia, industry and public sector will be key to making healthcare accessible for everyone, he added.
